About Me

Welcome to Eat Tech Dad! I’m Ritesh—yes, the name’s a bit of a journey. “Eat” is a relic from my food-blogging days (2005-2013, RIP 200+ restaurant reviews), “Tech” is my lifetime passion, and “Dad” explains why I’m always optimizing things to “just work.”

These days, this blog focuses primarily on Home Assistant and smart home automation. Since diving into Home Assistant in 2023, I’ve been on a mission to build a home that’s genuinely smart—and documenting what I learn so you don’t have to make the same mistakes I did.

What you’ll find here:

  • Home Assistant optimization guides and tutorials
  • Smart home device reviews (Zigbee, Z-Wave, Matter, Thread)
  • Real-world automation strategies that actually work
  • Troubleshooting solutions from someone who’s broken (and fixed) things
  • The occasional post about dad life, family travel, or whatever else I’m tinkering with

Maybe one day I’ll resurrect the “Eat” part with kid-friendly recipes, but for now, I’m too busy automating lights and optimizing backups. Priorities, right?

Whether you’re just starting with Home Assistant or looking to level up your setup, join me as I continue learning, building, and occasionally explaining to my family why the lights aren’t working again.
